Research projects

Do a protein language model and a chemical language model say different things about a peptide? Four fusion designs, four properties, one public benchmark: no. Test F1 within 0.03 of the state of the art, and a negative result that narrows the search.

  1. Undergraduate Capstone

    • Vision transformers for real-time neonatal monitoring: self-supervised pretraining and fine-tuning, then test-time adaptation by entropy minimization.
  2. Research Assistant

    CUBIC Lab, Carleton University · Prof. James Green

    • Deep learning and multimodal methods for real-time embedded healthcare monitoring.
    • I-CUREUS internship, summer 2026: tested whether fusing sequence and structure encoders, or sharing one model across four peptide properties, beats a single frozen encoder on the PeptiVerse benchmark. Neither did. Trained on a TPU v4-32 pod with a JAX and Grain pipeline.
    • Co-author of LookWhere? (NeurIPS 2025): deployment and throughput measurement on Cloud TPU pods.
  3. Google Summer of Code Contributor

    The Apache Software Foundation, Apache HTTP Server Project · Mentor: Jean-Frederic Clere (Apache httpd and Tomcat committer, ASF Member)

    • Wrote mod_http3, HTTP/3 (RFC 9114) for the Apache HTTP Server on OpenSSL 3.5 QUIC and nghttp3: 6,409 lines of C and 61 signed releases, plugged into httpd's normal request pipeline.
    • Extended httpd's process management so a module can register connections httpd did not accept itself; graceful stop and restart now drain in-flight HTTP/3 requests. Proposed upstream to apache/httpd.
    • Built the test and release infrastructure: 56 integration tests against a live server, seven CI workflows, QUIC Interop Runner registration, and packages for Linux and Windows.

    • Built, tested, and validated DEVS (Discrete Event System Specification) simulation models in CADMIUM.
